About the Position


The Structural Engineer will focus on highway and rail transportation projects. Responsibilities will include project management, project execution, development of structural calculations and design plans, and the preparation of technical specifications. The Structural Engineer will also manage, train, and mentor a group of staff engineers to complete projects to high quality on schedule and budget.


Job Requirements


- Responsible for project execution, development of structural calculations and design plans, and the preparation of technical specifications

- Oversee and direct the technical work of others, delegate work to Staff Engineers, and be responsible for the checking of calculations, and designs

- Must be able to work as a pro-active member of the project team, and have the interpersonal skills to coordinate in a positive manner with others on multi-discipline projects

- Must possess excellent client skills and be able to enhance and develop solid client relationships


Desired Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:


- Proven design experience with AASHTO LRFD

- Design experience with AREMA / IDOT / Tollway / INDOT / manuals preferred

- SE License (Illinois) required

- Experience with Class I railroads and/or transit agencies desirable

- Possess excellent relationships with State Agencies

- Excellent relationships with Class I railroads a plus

- Proficient using bridge design software

- Experience and expertise with MicroStation, and MathCad software desirable

- Proven experience in working on multiple projects concurrently

- Monitor and adhere to budgets and schedules

- Effective coordination with other disciplines to allow for the successful completion of projects
